Cathay Pacific has been announced as the exclusive Founding Travel Partner of Kai Tak Sports Park (KTSP), reinforcing its commitment to sports, arts, culture, and global events in its home city of Hong Kong.

The partnership underscores Cathay Pacific’s dedication to enhancing Hong Kong’s status as a world-class destination, bringing international visitors to experience the city’s state-of-the-art sports and entertainment hub.

A Landmark Collaboration for Hong Kong’s Tourism and Sports Industry

Kai Tak Sports Park is set to become Hong Kong’s largest integrated sports and entertainment venue, hosting world-class sporting, cultural, and entertainment events. As the Founding Travel Partner, Cathay will collaborate closely with KTSP to enhance visitor experiences and promote Hong Kong as a global events destination.

To mark the partnership, Cathay Pacific and KTSP hosted an announcement ceremony at the Health and Wellness Centre at Kai Tak Sports Park. Cathay Pacific’s Chief Customer and Commercial Officer, Lavinia Lau, and KTSP’s Chief Executive Officer, John Sharkey, were joined by distinguished guests to celebrate the occasion.

Cathay’s Return to Kai Tak: A Tribute to Its Roots

Speaking at the event, Lavinia Lau highlighted the deep connection between Cathay and Kai Tak, reflecting on the airline’s evolution from its historic beginnings at the old Kai Tak Airport to becoming a leading premium travel lifestyle brand.

“Kai Tak Airport holds a special place in our hearts as the birthplace of Cathay Pacific. In many ways, our return to Kai Tak as the exclusive Founding Travel Partner of KTSP is a testament to Cathay’s journey and our commitment to Hong Kong’s future. Through this collaboration, we aim to attract visitors from around the world, elevating Hong Kong’s international profile while celebrating its rich heritage.”

John Sharkey welcomed the partnership, noting its symbolic significance in reconnecting Hong Kong with the global stage.

“Kai Tak was once the gateway where Hong Kong met the world and the world came to Hong Kong. We are delighted that this partnership with Cathay will help bring that legacy to life once again, as we introduce world-class events for the people of Hong Kong and welcome international visitors through Cathay’s global network.”

Immersive Experiences and Community Engagement

As part of the collaboration, Cathay and KTSP will introduce unique aviation-themed experiences at the venue. The Cathay-branded West Bridge will serve as a landmark entrance, connecting the Sung Wong Toi MTR station to Kai Tak Stadium, symbolising Hong Kong’s aviation heritage. Another highlight is World Flyer, a scaled-down representation of Kai Tak Airport’s iconic facilities, designed to serve as a learning and engagement space for the community.

Cathay will also support special projects such as “Rong Rong Square” and “Veni, Vidi, Vici”, further enhancing the visitor experience at KTSP.
