Dubai enters culinary history with first-ever three MICHELIN Star Restaurants

Dubai has officially joined the ranks of global culinary capitals, with the city celebrating its first-ever Three MICHELIN Star restaurants following the launch of the fourth edition of the MICHELIN Guide Dubai.

The 2024 edition of the Guide features 119 restaurants, marking a remarkable 72.5% increase in listings since the inaugural Dubai guide launched in 2022. The surge reflects the emirate’s rapid rise as a world-class dining destination, bolstered by its cultural diversity, innovation, and growing homegrown talent. In a historic milestone, two restaurants have been awarded the coveted Three MICHELIN Star status—a first for the city and a significant moment in the region’s gastronomic evolution. This rare accolade, described by MICHELIN as denoting cuisine “worth a special journey”, underscores the calibre of culinary excellence now firmly rooted in Dubai.

Himanshu Saini, Tresind, Dubai

Among the newly crowned is Trèsind Studio, the flagship restaurant of acclaimed chef Himanshu Saini. The progressive Indian fine dining venue, which first received a star in 2022 and a second in 2023, now becomes the first Indian restaurant in the world to achieve Three MICHELIN Stars—a major international achievement for both Dubai and Indian cuisine.

Also joining the prestigious three-star club is FZN by Björn Frantzén, the latest concept from the celebrated Swedish chef. With Frantzén in Stockholm and Zén in Singapore both previously earning the same distinction, Frantzén now becomes the only chef globally to simultaneously hold Three MICHELIN Stars at three separate restaurants, reinforcing his status as one of the world’s most decorated culinary figures.

As Dubai’s gastronomic scene continues to evolve and attract global acclaim, this year’s MICHELIN Guide cements the city’s position as a serious player in the world of fine dining—making it a key destination for culinary travellers and food connoisseurs alike.
