Qatar Airways temporarily suspends flights amid airspace closure – Updated

Qatar Airways has confirmed the temporary suspension of its flight operations due to the closure of air traffic movement within the State of Qatar, as regional tensions in the Middle East escalate.

The airline is working closely with government stakeholders and aviation authorities to manage the evolving situation and support affected passengers. A spokesperson for Qatar Airways noted that flight operations will resume once the airspace is reopened, though travellers should expect significant delays and disruption to scheduled services in the immediate aftermath.

In response, the carrier has deployed additional ground staff at Hamad International Airport and key international hubs to assist impacted travellers.

“The safety of our passengers and crew remains our highest priority,” the airline said in a statement, adding that real-time updates will be provided via the Qatar Airways website and mobile app.

The situation remains fluid, with further developments expected in the coming hours. Travel advisors are encouraged to monitor official updates and communicate proactively with clients holding current or upcoming bookings with the airline.

As of 09:45, the airspace has re-opened in the state of Qatar and Qatar Airways flights are resuming, however, significant delays are expected. Qatar Airways advises all guests to check updates on Qatar Airways website or with their travel advisors for the latest updates on flights.
