BNZ and Singapore Airlines Team Up to Offer Enhanced KrisFlyer Rewards

Singapore Airlines has announced a first-of-its-kind partnership in New Zealand with the Bank of New Zealand (BNZ), positioning BNZ as the inaugural banking partner for SIA’s KrisFlyer loyalty programme. This alliance presents a unique opportunity for travel agents to guide their clients on maximising rewards from everyday spending using BNZ Advantage Visa credit cards.

For the first time, BNZ Advantage Visa cardholders can convert their BNZ Points earned on daily purchases directly into KrisFlyer miles. This opens the door for clients to redeem points for flights, KrisShop purchases, and exclusive travel experiences, providing a compelling value proposition for travel-focused clients.

Maximising Client Rewards: What Travel Agents Need to Know

  • Simple Conversion Process: Clients can convert their BNZ Points into KrisFlyer miles through the BNZ Rewards portal, making it easier for new and existing KrisFlyer members to unlock travel benefits.
  • Conversion Rate: A rate of 300 BNZ Points converts to 50 KrisFlyer miles, offering tangible rewards for routine spending.
  • Flexibility for Travel: Clients can combine KrisFlyer miles with cash when booking flights, giving them more options and enhancing affordability for their trips.
  • Exclusive KrisShop Access: Clients can also use miles to purchase products from KrisShop, spanning jewellery, fashion, wellness items, and more, further extending the value of their rewards.

George Robertson, General Manager New Zealand for Singapore Airlines, emphasized the importance of this development for frequent travellers: “This collaboration between SIA KrisFlyer and BNZ Rewards allows clients to earn and redeem miles through everyday purchases, helping them reach their travel goals faster.”

Ross Jackson, General Manager of Payments and Merchant Services at BNZ, shared his excitement: “Our customers value wide-ranging travel rewards, and we’re proud to be the only New Zealand bank offering direct conversion to KrisFlyer miles.”

Travel agents can leverage this partnership by educating clients on how to earn KrisFlyer miles faster, ensuring greater access to rewards and exclusive travel benefits. By highlighting this new benefit, agents can offer a fresh incentive to clients to book their future travel with agents who understand how to optimise their rewards. This valuable advice may deepen client relationships and encourage loyalty to their preferred travel professionals.
