Tauck to add two new riverboats in 2027 boosting capacity on the Seine and Douro

Tauck will expand its river fleet with two new ships in 2027, following two launches in 2026, the brand’s largest two-year growth spurt to date. Across 2025–2027 this represents an overall 30% capacity increase, with France up 50% and the Douro nearly doubling versus 2025.

Citing exceptional demand, Tauck has opened 2027 itineraries early so guests can secure preferred departures with risk-free, fully refundable deposits while final pricing and details are confirmed later this year. “The enthusiasm for our river cruising experiences has been extraordinary,” said Jennifer Tombaugh, CEO. “Our ‘small is big’ philosophy resonates in high-demand destinations like the Douro and France, where space is naturally limited.”

The new ships continue Tauck’s guest-led design approach: no more than 130 guests on larger vessels (and 84–98 on smaller boats), resort-style Sun Decks with pools and bars, sky-lit atriums and panoramic lounges. Over 75% of cabins are 225 sq ft or larger, with 300 sq ft Tauck Suites on the Diamond Deck featuring double French balconies, walk-in wardrobes, lounge seating and king beds oriented to the views.

A 125-metre Seine ship echoing the 2026-due MS Serene adds Arthur’s casual dining at the bow and a new wellness zone, The Retreat, with floor-to-ceiling river views, fitness, treatment room and a coffee/juice/snack bar. On the Douro, an 80-metre vessel joins MS Andorinha, retaining lock-friendly engineering and 360-degree stern views from Arthur’s.

Tauck’s all-inclusive model covers shore excursions, gratuities, premium drinks, transfers, luggage handling, taxes and fees. 2027 reservations are open now, with deposits fully refundable until final itineraries and pricing are published later this year.
